I love trying out new designers. This is my first time trying GYCT Designs. The Girls Firecracker Dress sewing pattern was a fun pattern to begin my journey with GYCT Designs.

I always find myself sewing more with woven in the summer. A high percentage of my current sewing is done with knit fabric. I always love coming back to wovens.
Instructions for the Firecracker Dress sewing pattern were easy to follow and very thorough. I never had any issues at understanding any of the steps to make this gorgeous dress. You can tell each step of the process was well thought through.
Instead of making straps on my own, to save a little time, I used some sparkly ribbon for the straps. When I first ordered the ribbon, I thought it was elastic ribbon. I also ordered this ombre ribbon in a pink too. However, I made a mistake in not checking for stretch and I made Baby Girl a headband with the ribbon. Oops, I quickly found out it had no stretch. I am glad I was able to find a new purpose for the ribbon. The sparkly ribbon helps make the dress pop.
The ribbon is green and blue sparkly ombre which matches the fabric in her dress well. You may remember the skirt fabric from my own dress I made myself in these Family Easter photos here and both fabric in a dress for her doll and herself here. I believe the skirt fabric is from Walmart and the green damask bodice fabric was from Joann Fabric. I have had both in my stash for awhile, so I am not sure if they are still available.
Since we decided to skip over Spring this year. It was snowed twice last month and is now in the 90’s, I believe we will getting lots of use out of Baby Girl’s Firecracker dress sewing pattern! You can grab the sewing pattern here! Enjoy!

She’s such a cutie! It seems really wide at the bodice – did you intentionally size up?
Thanks. Yes I did. She is growing so fast right now and I wanted it to last the whole summer.
