Well it is officially summer! Although, it has felt like summer for the last two months already. So, for the official start of summer I made myself the new Swimsuit Cover Up sewing pattern by Ellie and Mac.

The new Women’s Beach Cover Up sewing pattern by Ellie and Mac features a V neckline, back strap, open side option or sewn side option. You may find the pattern here on sale. I did make a few adjustments to the sewing pattern.
Instead of using the facing, I decided to add black lace ribbon along the neckline. I stitched the lace down two times to help it lay flat. I also folded the v neckline right sides together and placed a stitch at an angle to give the neckline a more defined neckline. I also skipped the back strap. I am still debating if I would still like to add it on to the back of the swim swim cover up. I like the look of the open back. What do you think? Should I add the back strap or leave it as it is?
I chose the open side look for the sides of the swimsuit cover up. Honestly, I did not go by the pattern directions, I decided to try it on, then clipped the sides where I wanted to sew them. Then, I measured the other side to so they would be same. I started my stitch 18.5 inches from the shoulder seam.
The fabric is a Casa Embellish Spring Glitter Dot Mesh Fabric from Joann Fabric. You may find it here.
The Women’s Beach Cover Up sewing pattern has the same pattern piece for the front and back with guidelines for each neckline, so taping the pattern pieces together was a breeze. The swimsuit cover up sewing pattern came together pretty quickly as well.
As for the swimsuit underneath, I did not make this one. It is the Skye Women’s So Soft Crystal Molded Cup Underwire Tankini. You may find it here. I took out the extra padding, as they were a little much for me. I have yet to find the perfect women’s swimsuit sewing pattern that I just love. Let me know if yo know of one I may like. I prefer a tankini, as I am not ready for a two piece and I am not a big fan of one piece swimsuits. To give you an idea of what I like, I also have this super fun pink tankini here (which everyone seems to love). I look forward to your suggestions and your affiliate links and blog posts are welcomed in the comments.
Overall, the Women’s Swimsuit Cover Up by Ellie and Mac was an easy, fast pattern. I think I may need a few more of these for our vacation coming up next month. Go grab it here while it is on sale.
