I love Summer!! I honestly wished I lived in a place with the weather is warm all year round. One day.. It is so hot and humid here in summer, so we spend a lot of time in water, either pools or lakes. This is why I was excited to test the new Mommy and Me Girl’s and Women’s Swimsuit Cover Up Sewing Patterns.

Not only has Made for Mermaids released the Mama Lola Women’s Swimsuit Cover Up sewing pattern (here) and the matching Lola Girl’s Swimsuit Cover Up sewing pattern (here), however they have also release several swimsuit sewing patterns!! You can buy all 6 new patterns together in a limited time bundle here!
The Lola Women’s Swimsuit Cover Up sewing pattern calls for woven fabric or a nice drapey knit fabric. I went through my fabric stash several times to pick the perfect fabric. First, I was thinking of using a woven fabric, then I came across this gorgeous Rayon Spandex from So Sew English Fabrics. It has been in my stash for a long time and I had just right amount to make Mommy and Me versions. Picking out fabric is definitely the hardest part of sewing for me. 🙂
I did not make this swimsuit. This is a Skye Swimwear Tankini, you can find it here. I have been searching for the perfect swimsuit sewing pattern, however I have not yet been able to find the perfect one. Though, I believe the Mama Roxy Swimsuit Sewing Pattern (here) may be my first attempt at sewing a swimsuit for myself. Unfortunately, I will not have time to make one before I leave on vacation this Thursday to the beach.
Mama Lola women’s swimsuit cover up sewing pattern has nice coverage as well. You can leave plain or add an elastic casing around the waist to add front ties to the design. I decided to leave it open.
The back of the Mama Lola Women’s Swimsuit Sewing Pattern Cover Up sewing pattern, is a perfect length. I subtracted 2.5 inches from the sewing pattern length, as I am only 5’0″ tall. It was easy to remove the extra length. I removed it throughout the pattern .5 inches at a time.
I do love the swimsuit cover up in knit fabric, as it helps soak up the water, yet dries quickly. It is of course super soft and comfy too! So comfy, that Baby Girl loves her too.
When I first make something new for Baby Girl, I am always worried if she is going to love it or hate it. You may remember her dress I made her that she absolutely hated here. She refused to wear it. So, when I told her I made her a swimsuit cover up, I was happy to see she was excited.
I did make her swimsuit using the Heartbreaker Cami and the Bonny shorts. I used the same patterns as her Giraffe Swimsuit. When I saw the Girl’s Roxy swimsuit go into testing (unfortunately I was not chosen to test it), I knew it would be a perfect swimsuit for some paw patrol swim fabric I have been hoarding for Baby Girl.
Baby Girl loved twirling in her Lola Girl’s Swimsuit Sewing Pattern (here). She also loved opening it up and closing it to show her swimsuit. Silly girl, I hope that is not a prelude to future years. LOL.
She was not so cooperative with pictures that night. All of our pictures are on the edge of the pool, because the rest of our little family was swimming in the pool while we were taking pictures. Baby Girl actually swam too while I took mine. It was so hot and humid outside, I was ready to jump in the pool myself.
Baby Girl loved our matching Mommy and Me Swimsuit Cover Ups. I thought maybe it was just because we were matching, however when we went to her Grandparent’s lake house over the weekend, she was upset I did not bring hers with us. Next time, I will remember to pack it.
Now, run and grab these while they are still on sale! Especially, that limited time bundle of all 6 new sewing patterns here! You have until tomorrow evening!
