Yesterday for the intro to the Back to School Blog Tour, I said a little goodbye to Summer. If you missed it, go check it out here. Summer is my favorite time of year. Well Back to School is upon us. If you are like my family, school has already started this year, some of you may have a couple more weeks. Today I will feature the School is Cool sewing Pattern by Ellie and Mac.

Baby Girl has been begging for her turn at school. Last year she did a mini preschool once a week for two hours for just a few short months. Now she will going more often, but luckily not all day. I am one of those Moms that actually gets sad when my kids go back to school. I miss them during the day and I miss watching them grow, play and learn right beside me.
Baby Girl started off the school year excited, but today I had to leave her crying and sad. At least she has a dress on her I made her to help her make it through the couple hours she is there. This morning I got up super early and made her the School is Cool dress sewing pattern from Ellie and Mac. You may find it here.
In fact, this morning, I put the pattern pieces together, cut the fabric, sewed the dress together (I even hemmed it!), plus fed my kids breakfast, packed Little Dude lunch and snack, go them dressed, dropped each one off at separate schools, did a super intense workout class, wrote this blog post and now about to go pick Baby Girl up all before noon. I am going to be exhauseted!
Is the school is cool dress not adorable with its circle skirt and flutter sleeves?? There is a cap sleeve option and a long sleeve option as well. The directions were very straight forward and the dress was an easy sew. Great for beginners to knits.
Baby Girl, of course, loved that dress twirls!
Baby Girl and I both love dresses that twirl! This Belle Princess knit fabric was perfect for this dress too. I found it at Joann Fabric, you can find it here. I actually meant to make this dress before we went to Disney earlier this month, however it just did not happen. Baby Girl actually picked out this fabric. This School is Cool dress is great for back to school.
Lots of twirling happened in this dress. Please ignore her crazy hair today. Did I mention I had a busy morning this morning? The poor thing woke up this morning with hair flying everywhere. She got that from her Mom. Thanks to Kinky Curly Leave in Conditioner for being a quick fix during our busy morning.
In fact, I lost part of this blog post I had written earlier, as I was writing at the gym after my workout class, the power went out. Which meant the WiFi went out. It never came back up until I had to pick Baby Girl up for school. So, now she is getting to watch some Fancy Nancy while I finish this blog post.
I still cannot believe Baby Girl is old enough for school. She just walked up to school with a bunch of confidence in her cute School is Cool dress. She insisted she wanted to put on her back pack when we got inside the school, but not a moment before.
If you follow my blog, you are aware Baby Girl loves Paw Patrol, so, of course, she has her very own Paw Patrol Back Pack with Skye and Everest. You can find it here!

Wow! Talk about super mom! I can’t believe you did all that before noon! As always, you did a great job with the dress and fabric choice. I am one of those moms too that gets sad. I crave alone time but when my boy is not with me, I feel sad. He is at day care while I work and there are times when he cries too and breaks my heart. I enjoyed your post 🙂
Luckily not every day is that crazy busy. It is so tough to leave them when they are sad. Little Dude was worse. They would have to literally grab him out of my arms and he would be hysterically crying.
My daughter is 2 and loves Puppy dog pals but theres only 1 season. I have seen every episode so im trying to get her to like paw patrol
Baby Girl loves Puppy Pals too! Good luck with the Paw Patrol. She came across paw patrol before I did.
Luckily after a while the sadness and tears stay away! I am a teacher, and my kids go with me to my school. So I had to endure the tears and screams several times a day… Everytime I had to cross the playground, my colleagues had to hold my daughters while I rushed away to keep those moments as brief as possible. Broke my heart every single time…
I love the idea of sending them of to school with a dress you made! You could tell your baby girl it’s like you at hugging her all day long… ❤️
Super cute! My kids used to love Paw Patrol… the 4 year old has decided he’s too grown for it though, RIGHT after I made him a super cute PP bathing suit. Naturally. Haha.
