Welcome to my stop on the Sew Americana 2019 Blog Tour hosted by the amazing Katy from Wild and Wanderful!! This is my second year participating in the Sew Americana Blog Tour, you may remember my kids cute outfits I made them last year, here. My daughter just loves her dress and actually wears it year round!! This year, I decided to make something for myself!!

This year the Sew Americana Blog Tour was hosted by Sly Fox Fabrics!!! If you know me, I am not a big fan of stripes, however I was going to go for it. I had picked out this gorgeous navy stripes fabric to pair with this solid red tri-blend fabric. I was pretty proud of myself for stepping outside my comfort zone. However…. let me tell you what happened. My husband and I just got back from a vacation sans children. While on this vacation is when all the shipping was happening, which should have been fine. However, someone (that would be me) left their phone at home! Yes, I had no phone for an entire week. Although, it was not completely my fault, it was kind of nice. I mean, who for 8 years straight, consistently keeps the alarm clock next to the bed 15 minutes fast, then changes it to the actual time right before vacation and does not tell his wife?? I thought I had 15 more minutes to leave for our 5 am flight. So, as much as, the wonderful Sly Fox Fabrics owner tried to get the fabric to me, I had to go a different route, due to time.
Actually, these women’s leggings were made several months ago for a Mother/Son Superhero event at our gym. I was so excited for my pants and as I was walking out the door my husband asked, “Are you sure the Mom’s are supposed to dress up too?”. Ummm?? What??? Fortunately, there were a few other of us cool Moms who had also dressed up. However, he was correct, the majority of the Moms did not dress up. I have been hoarding this blue fabric with with ombre silver and red starts from Joann Fabric for awhile. You may remember Baby Girl’s gymnastics leotard in the same fabric. I used the free Patterns for Pirates women’s leggings sewing pattern, you may find it here.
One thing I did not have time to make for the Superhero Party with Little Dude was a shirt. So, I finally made a matching shirts for my fun leggings!! I decided to use one of my new favorite sewing patterns, the Tie Back Tank from Greenstyle Creations, you may find it here. Recently, I made another one that I will share with you soon. Since, I am only 5’0″ I did shorten the sewing pattern a little, however I made no other changes. The Tie Back Top went together fairly quickly. I even hemmed the bottom too!! The thing that took the longest with this outfit was picking out which SVG file to use.
Picking a SVG was hard. Sometimes, I make an outfit just for the SVG file and sometimes, I spend hours searching for the perfect file. I decided upon this Home of the Free, because of the Brave SVG I found, here, on So Fontsy. I was looking for a design that was simple and to the point. I think this covered both of the criteria. The design cut well and was easy to apply. I use a Silhouette Cameo and a Cricut Heat Press.
The fabric for the Tie Back Top sewing pattern is this absolutely gorgeous Cobalt Rayon Spandex by Simply By Ti Fabrics. I highly recommend her shop!!
Now I have an entire outfit!! Yay!! It may be an outfit, I can wear on certain holidays like, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Flag Day, and other random obscure patriotic holidays…

I’m seriously loving that top! The back is to die for!
Thank you so much!!! I want so many more of them!!
I love the svg on your top!!! It is so perfect! And UGH what a pain about your alarm clock/phone – though I’m sure it was good to actually unwind from your phone – it’s so easy to just keep that thing by your side constantly.
Love the entire outfit! So my opinion is that the cool Moms always dress up too!!!! ❤️💙
